Renewable energy has been incorporated into the design and operation of the Gippsland Water Factory. Gases produced in the wastewater treatment process will be captured and used to generate electricity, while a micro-hydro scheme has been built at Pine Gully Reservoir to create further power. About 20 per cent of Gippsland Water Factory’s total power usage will be self-generated through these ‘green’ energy sources.
