Community benefits
Since its construction in the early 1950s, the open channel section of the Regional Outfall Sewer has been a source of concern to the local community. This concern has centred on the odour created by the open channel.
The Gippsland Water Factory will treat all wastewater before it enters the Regional Outfall Sewer. This means that water of a higher quality will travel down the open channel, significantly reducing the odour problem.
How can the community become involved?
As a leader in sustainability and innovation, the Gippsland Water Factory will become a facility that the Gippsland community will be proud of. Community ownership and support are important to the success of the Gippsland Water Factory.
The community will be kept informed throughout the development of this project. Regular updates and information about the Gippsland Water Factory will be provided for anyone who wishes to find out more. There will be opportunities for interested members of the community to become more actively involved in the project. |
