A new era in water discovery and education

Leadership in education and awareness

The Gippsland Water Factory will be an innovative wastewater treatment and recycling system that will introduce a new era for water technology, discovery and education.

It will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about water conservation and sustainable water management. It will also provide training, research and development opportunities.

Community education

The Gippsland Water Factory communications team is committed to keeping the community informed about the project; raising community awareness about the importance of the Gippsland Water Factory; and outlining the many benefits it will have for the local community. Community group presentations, shopping centre displays, brochures, fact sheets, newsletters, media releases, advertising and the website are some of the ways the team is helping to spread the word about this exciting sustainability project.

Schools program

An interesting and informative schools program has been designed for primary and secondary students as part of the Gippsland Water Factory.

The schools program uses fresh and interesting ways to help students learn about importance of water. The program features themes such as the water cycle; catchments; water treatment; water conservation; and how wastewater is treated at the Gippsland Water Factory. Students also learn ways to conserve and manage water resources at home.

Vortex Centre

Gippsland Water Factory’s Maryvale plant will feature a public education facility called the ‘Vortex Centre’, where all the family can learn more about water conservation and sustainable water management.

The Vortex Centre’s interpretive experience will highlight water as a precious resource and teach visitors specifically about Gippsland Water Factory; its technology, construction and community benefits. The themes for this experience were developed in consultation with local stakeholders who participated in a number of Vortex Centre workshops. The centre will also become the focus of Gippsland Water’s education program and feature interactive displays, capturing the passion and excitement that has gone into the project.

Schools interested in visiting the Vortex Centre when open in 2009 should contact the Gippsland Water Factory Communications Team on free call 1800 066 401 or by email at contactus@gippslandwaterfactory.com.au to register their interest.
